Project information

Welcome to The Breaking the Cycle Project! The Breaking the Cycle initiative is dedicated to promoting active citizenship among youth, fostering their sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, and nurturing social and EU common values, civic engagement, and participation.

Objectives of the project

The objectives of the "Breaking the Cycle" project are:

  • The promotion of youth and European active citizenship and inclusion of marginalized youngsters.
  • The increase partner organizations’ ability to encourage youth empowerment, active citizenship, and social generativity.
  • The encouragement of young people’s participation, sense of initiative, and active citizenship through innovative, grassroots, learner-centered problem-solving techniques.

The objectives of the "Breaking the Cycle" project are:

  • The improvement of young people’s hard and soft skills through hands-on social innovation experimentation, enhancing employability, entrepreneurship, and fostering social cohesion.
  • The improvement of adult educators’ skills in non-formal education.
  • The encouragement of student participation and reducing school dropout levels among marginalized youths.
  • The promotion of a safe community environment that supports continued education for young people.

Expected Outcomes / Results

1. Enhanced Collaborative Efforts:

Heightened collaboration among partner organizations, education stakeholders, and players in the social sector.

2. Elevated Youth Participation:

Increased engagement and cultivation of EU citizenship among young individuals, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds.

3. Enhanced Skills:

Strengthened hard and soft skills relevant to social innovation, employability, and entrepreneurship.

4. Cooperation Among Stakeholders:

Reinforced collaboration between educational and social entities and key stakeholders.

Provision of knowledge and tools in non-formal learning for adult educators.

Alignment with Priorities

These goals align with chosen priorities by enhancing opportunities and improving the quality of life for marginalized youth, establishing a network of young Europeans dedicated to active civic engagement.

Target Group

The “Breaking the Cycle” project targets youths aged 15-19 at risk of dropping out of school, facing social, cultural challenges, educational poverty, and marginalization, especially in rural and suburban areas. It also focuses on young educators working in public/private institutions, schools, and organizations that emphasize youth entrepreneurship and citizenship. This initiative aims to address the specific needs and challenges faced by these groups to foster inclusivity, empowerment, and active participation in their communities and beyond.

Activities

To achieve the project’s goals, the “Breaking the Cycle” project will undertake the following activities:

  • Conduct training sessions to enhance both hard and soft skills for self-empowerment and economic independence.
  • Organize focus groups, work groups, and flash mobs to engage participants actively.
  • Adopt a learner-centered methodology, employing an intersectional approach and emphasizing experiential learning (“learning by doing”).
  • Aim to instill a more purposeful attitude towards ongoing education.
  • Foster a community of young Europeans who are actively engaged in civic activities.
